I was unaware that Jim was the moving force behind Vegas Limited Edition chips. On that basis alone, he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame.
I can't see how you can sustain a high rate of new interest in chip collecting WITHOUT these chips. Gee Whiz, lots of the cool classic Vegas chips cost as much as a new car! What does the newbie on a budget get excited about? Chips you know you can never have?
And don't tell me to try small towns either because they are heading there too......
When I got involved with collecting, I started (as I guess many of us have) with a single chip from every current Vegas casino. It was great fun, but it was completed easily. What next?
I love Saratoga and horse racing. The Palms classic Triple Crown Horses set got me fired up all over again. I didn't care if the chips would appreciate in value or not. I love chips. I love horses. Game on!
Next thing you know, I am scouring eBay for them, and in my travels, stumbling across a decent, undervalued, not so classic obsolete Vegas chip here and there and while I still hope to one day
find that long lost Bugsy-Issue Flamingo, I am happy finding chips I can afford and I can dig.
If this is partly due to Jim's contribution, then I'd like to thank him for it.
