I agree that Gene Trimble had probably the greatest influence of any chipper for the introduction–or at least for the maintenance of the LE’s being produced by the Nevada Casinos.
I, for one, can’t criticize him for his actions as it was mainly his doings that kept my interest alive in the CC>CC and the collecting of chips. I, and many more like me, were crying for more LE’s and Gene accommodated us. He certainly never did it for selfish purposes for as far as I know, he never really sold any–at least not as a new chip service provider. Any chips I ever got from Gene were for gratias or for face value.
I recently have lost interest in LE’s but had a heck of a lot of fun collecting them for the past 7 or 8 years. I have now moved on to more exotic chips which is why I’m selling a large block of ones I bought in the past. And I owe it mainly to Gene for keeping the flow of LE’s going.
As far as money is concerned, I have or at least will lose many thousands of dollars by the time I sell the LE's I no longer want and in fact, care less about that. They were never meant to be used for an investment vehicle--just a fun object. My goal has be accomplished and owe it mainly to Gene.
If you have other things to critize Gene for, so be it, but I give him credit for being the "Father of the collectibles," and thank him for it.
