I DID SAY that Gene gets a lot of credit for what he has contributed to this hobby, but at the same time, every word of what I said is true... Gene started this whole thing. Prior to Gene at the 4Q, LE's were few and far between. AND you talk about 500 BJ chips. How many times does a casino actually only manke 500 of a $5 chip? Almost never! It is almost always 2000+.
And besides, you are talking about the money aspect of it. The point of my post is that LE's have gotten way out of hand and I wanted everybody out there to realize where the meat of the whole thing started. There are a lot of chippers out there who have not been around that long.
Another note... For you to suggest that the casinos are not so interested in making the money, (because as you seem to think it is not that much,) then I guess you must feel like "groundhog day" chips and "I got divorced" chips and "Bingo Ellie" chips are SUCH important events that the casinos absolutely MUST commemorate the event, just for the sake of spreading recognition for the event!
Don't get me wrong. I enjoy LE's to an extent. I think they are much more attractive than the old chips, and without the LEs, there wouldn't be such an influx of new chippers coming into this hobby, which makes all our collections more valuable.
I just think it is out of hand, and like I said in the beginning, the point of this post was to educate people on how this out-of-handness began.
btw... what is IMO?
