One of the best pieces of advice I received atmy first convention was to focus my collecting efforts.
Every chip purchase is the choice of the buyer. I do buy some LEs, but my emphasis is $1 chips. I do not buy chips as a possible investment, and would caution any person from doing so. The values that these chips have is artificial (with the exception of the face value, presuming itis a chip that may be cashed in.
Many LE's have sorted themselves out to the collectors who want them, and their are only a few newbies who wish to add some of them, so the value has decreased.
The Hooters chips I believe are a great example of this. They are new, they go fasy, they then accelerate in value, then when the hoopla slows down, their value begins to decrease. There are only 1000, and there are people who collect Hooters items (regardless) and so the value on these may not fall below face, but if the chips were releasedin larger numbers, they could.
