Allan, personally I take great pride in belonging to an organization that strides for perfection and avoids the slippery slopes of compromised product quality for the sake of saving a few pennies. I love the quality.
The difference between what you and the club put out is well worth the extra monies spent in producing it. It's not a rag that's simply tossed out with last weeks meatloaf after a quick haphazard scan through it. It's a high quality magazine that I bet more than 90 percent of the readers save. I know I do. I have each and every issue neatly stacked, and I take them out now and then and review them. Could I possibly be the only one that enjoys them that much? Sure, I could be....but being a betting man, I'd eagerly bet that I'm not.
Since like you, I'm on a soapbox, let me just give my feelings about the membership dues increase. I have no problem whatsoever paying more. The only recomendation I can give for membership dues is to offer an initial one year "trial membership" with a reduced rate. This would give those potential new members that might suffer from sticker shock a chance to try it out and get a hold of the magazine. Once they get and enjoy a few copies, they'll be hooked.
