I got my life membership because I thought it would help the club. At the time, I was of the opinion that I'd never live out the investment. I got a cool number!
Reason two: I'm too lazy and just paying for the mailing costs each year, makes me happy. If I forget, I still get the Mag.
Ken, I don't know what kind of clubs you belonged to, but if they were incorporated, I'd raise a stink. If it was someones personal club, you got stuck. There are legal issues with taking someones money for a "life" subscription or membership and then changing the game. You should be able to get your dues back, minus the yearly fees for the time you were a member, and possibly all of it.
Rude treat since you did the free work and helped the club for six years, and they kicked you in the ass. I suppose that means, not many of us would like to belong to that club after that.
If you have a friend who's a lawyer, they can probably write a letter for you for $50 and that can often get some response. (cost is lees if it's a really good friend)
