David is right on the money!

10/15 years ago I paid for lifetime memberships in two collecting groups.
After several years (and within two months of each other), both groups advised me that their mailing costs had escalated to the point that they could no longer support life memberships.
Both groups advised me that I had a choice of paying yearly dues again, or forfiting my membership.
I tried to argue that they had an obligation to provide what they had been paid for, but they simply ignored me and cancelled my memberships.

And there's a kicker!
With one of the groups, I had been maintaining the club mailing list, and printing their mailing labels (which I donated!), every month for six years!
