I've never been in an organization that proposed a 50% increase and most organizational By-Laws would prevent such an increase. Ignoring that for the moment..
In most organizations, there aren't members who are immune to dues increases and everyone shares the same burden. That isn't true here and I don't see a lot of Life members offering to cough up the extra $150.
Because of the the unusual structure of this club, this increase will penalize certain members. The member who will have 3 years on June 30th will be able to escape (if he or she so desires and we've had members do that) while the member who will have 3 years in July is screwed to the tune of $150 because of an arbitrary date set by the board.
There is no reason (of which I am aware) not to level the playing field and at least give current members the same deal.
(Please note that I did make the effort to keep this off of this board... alas).
