postcard message is on a card dated 8/22/48. The card is from Elko, mailed from Salt Lake City, mailed to: Montgomery St.; Marshall, Michigan (no name or street #!)

It says (and it doesn't even have a salutation!):

This country can be given back to the Indians and they probably would starve after the jack-rabbits were gone. This picture is of one of the larger towns in the state. Most of them are like Walnut Point. In about 10 days we will be back in Michigan, the best state in the Union! Have a good time at the fair! Love, Mary

I have to every time I read that card...poor Mary couldn't wait to get back home to civilization!! (Just like I have to every time I think of Trigger getting higher billing than Dale in Heldorado!! )
