Aaron, I don't know where you got your info but believe me, Bernie Shelton was taken very seriously. He was an ill-tempered, large man, and a stone cold killer. Carl was the brains and they had an army of thugs in both Peoria and Southern Illinois. Snooks Gordon, a former pro boxer ran the Peoria slot routes and pretty much took over Peoria after Bernie was killed outside of his Farmington Road tavern.
