there, as I'm sure you have seen. Although I am new also to ChipTalk.net, it seems to me that they are organized into a collection different "forums" based on subject matter and purchased forums, with a focus on poker.
Overall there are 6 or 7 different high-level categories. Each category can have multiple forums. Each forum is the equivilent of thechipboard.com. When you go to a specific forum, you will see a list of threads, but only the thread starter's message subject heading can be seen. If you click the subject line, each of the thread entries will appear in a chronical order, which is not necessarily in an order that tracks well. I suspect that this is why that system has a convenient "quote" feature. If you join a thread several days after it starts and want to post a reply to the very first message, that reply will be posted at the very end of the thread, which can be several hundred replies later!
If you click the "quote" button, in the post you want to specifically reply to, you get a reply window that contains the quote (which you can edit to delete unwanted stuff) and then make your reply. In this fashion another reader can keep track of the action.
Please understand, I am just getting used to this system, but by no means do I fully comprehend. I have not even explored viewing customizations.
As indicated previously, ChipTalk.net is mostly about bulk poker chip set acquisitions for home use and resale and the like, but there is a category established for members that are also chip collectors.
Many of the posts there reference this site, Eisenstadt's site, Kallman's (Kalman) site, Hegge's site, the site and others that we are familiar with.
I hope this helps.
Jim
