16,000, 10,000 or even 5,000 is not rare. We collect chips one at a time, so you can see where most in this group may disagree with the use of the word "rare". Many collectors even collect the "fantasy" chips, but once again, one (or a few) at a time.

Actually, I can see your point where there could only be 32 - 500 chip sets and that would not be considered common. You're looking at it in one perspective (a limited amount of complete 500 or 1000 home sets) while most of us view it as 1 of 16000 chips.
