I am not the type to hyper anyalyze chips for minute variations (although I really enjoy Jim Gagnon's annual variation posts). However, I was stacking 5 Imperial Palace chips and it caught my eye without looking particularly closely that all looked the same except one, which looked noticeably thicker, especially in the hot stamp of the "$1." It is also unmistakable in the "Las Vegas, NV." I know the scan below doesn't look like much, but it's quite obvious when looking at the actual chips. I have read on the board that hot stamps can vary in thickness throughout single rack. That being said, I have never noticed a difference in my hot stamped chips before. Am I just seeing things, or is this a variation, or a later/earlier rack? Hey, I am really still a newbie, so be nice.
