Long Story - sorry for the whinning, but I'm frustrated. They maybe good if all goes right just don't try to change anything.
I just want to alert and warn all chippers concerning the operational practices of Orbitz. I booked a round trip for two to Vegas (where else) Dec 2, 2005 and on Dec 3, 2005 found out that dealing directly with Continental was $60 cheaper. So on Dec 4,2005 I contacted them to cancelled -- long story short they said too late until I complained enough-- they gave me " a courtesy late cancellation." Although I would have to pay a $13.95 service fee.
Seven days later I receive my credit card bill with the full charges on it. $717.78 I did rebook with Continental and got same flight and same seats for $60 less but took the precaution to use different credit card. After 7 phone calls and approx. 9 people I was told that the credit would come from Continental and may take up to 60 days.
After filing a complain with my credit card company who agreed to withhold payment demand and interest on those charges, I waited 65 days. NO credit. I then started calling again. Continental said my issue was with Orbitz and they had no way to look up the history of an orbitz cancellation. Their (Orbitz) customer support is of course based in India and with these southern ears, it took 45 minutes to establish that I had indeed booked a flight and cancelled it. Next I was told that I obviously was mistaken about the 60 days. I have very carefully taken notes on who I talked to and what was said. Obviously I'm a liar errrr mistaken. After refusing to talk to the original person by saying "I don't want to talk to someone who just called me a liar" 32 times and being put on hold nine times, I was then told by a very easy to understand male (american accent), it would take three billing cycles to post the credit and since I was billed so quickly the first time doesn't count as one of those three.
Well I just checked my credit card transaction log just now and NO credit yet.
Does the BBB do any good when you file a complain like this?
I will never use Orbitz again and I hope none of you do either. I have their corporate office number and will start there as soon as my next bill arrives wheither the credit is on it or not..
