If it had been possible I would have done. However, I had other factors to consider.
This year I am bringing my wife and 7 year old daughter. They will not be particularly interested in the convention as its their first time in Vegas and they only have 7 days. They needed to stay somewhere that was both easy to get in and out of and also had plenty of facilities in house.
I did contact the Riv before I looked anywhere else and was told that not only would the club rates not apply to triple occupancy (as the rooms allocated were not licensed for triple occupancy) but I would have to pay rack rate + 50%.
Add to that the Riv is very child unfriendly. No baby monitoring, no kids activites let alone a kids club, and no children of her age (accompanied or not) in the majority of the building. I was quoted $740 for 6 nights.
Instead I picked a hotel which offered (unaccompanied) kids activities, in-house baby sitting, seemingly the only hotel in Vegas where you can use the 'baby listening service' and leave your child alone in the room legally, has a 12 screen cinema, catering to meet everyones tastes and time constraints, and says that children are very welcome
