... it brings back memories.
Several years ago I had a $1 Mint LC. I got a call from a former club member who told me he found an extremly rare Reno c&s (a black Sphinx). He told me that there were only 4 found. I asked if any of the other c&s collectors got one (I think this was at an Arcadia show). The answer was no.
The chip is, at best, a $2000 chip.
The ex club member told me that it was extremely valuable. I told him I had the $1 Mint. He told me that the owner of the c&s would make the trade but that, in his opinion, I was getting, by far, the best of the deal.
I sent my chip immediately. Later in the day I was able to contact several of the c&s collectors who were at the show. Sure enough, all my friends got a chip. I think they got the chip for about $25 each. There were about 2 dozen chips. Did the ex-collector who brokered the deal know this? What do you think.
Needless to say I have not spoken to him in years. When he was thrown out of the club, unlike others on the board, I did not shed a tear.
Karma. Ain't it great.
