determine regarding the strike, dating and SSOTY Award.
According to Nevada Gaming records, the $10 "Winged Victory" strike was approved on 27 September, 2000.
I have no specific information as to when it was put into play.
At the time of the 2000 OTY Awards Nomination process (early 2001) the SSOTY Award was in it's inaugural year. At that time there was a Chapter of the CCandGTCC called the Silver Strikers and that Chapter was instrumental in managing the SSOTY process.
If you look in the archives of this message board (early 2001) you will see some discussions about who could participate in the SSOTY element of the OTY voting process, i.e., you had to also be a Silver Striker member.
The then current OTY Chairman, Archie Black, was not responsible for the SSOTY process, as it was a Chapter function. However, before the next OTY event (2001, taking place in 2002) there was a vote put forth to the CCandGTCC membership asking where the SSOTY process belonged. The result of the vote was to put the SSOTY into the COTY and TOTY process, under the Chairmanship of the OTY Chairman. Where it remains today, even after the dissolving of Chapters.
Again, I do not know the release date of the $10 strike, nor do I know the criteria used back then. I also do not know what dates are used in Howdy's book, i.e., release dates or Gaming Approval dates, or perhaps even something else.
I also know that 2001 is recorded as the Approval dates for the $40 and $200 "Winged Victory" strikes (13 July for both) and it is always possible that that date could be confused for the $10 date.
However, having said all that, it still remains that the $10 Caesars Palace, "Winged Victory" strike is the Club's SSOTY winner for the year 2000.
