Hey Mark......I think you miss one very important point. No Limit is a WAY more popular format, even among the "poorer" players than limit. Many casinos do not even hold Limit tourneys regularly anymore.
I think most inexperienced players would rather try No Limit anyway because of the added kick. They want to play the game they watch on TV.
As far as skill level goes, I have had a little experience at both (lol) and I feel it is possible to win or place high at a No Limit tournament without your "fair" share of good hands. Forget about it at Limit. If you don't hold good hands you are dead.
