Hey there everybody, my turn to wade int the fray...
I will start by saying that the eBay auction isn't mine. Been aacused of that one before.
The Silver Slipper in Edmonton openend at the Klondike Days fair in 1968 (or 69) and is only open for 10 days per year. Those chips were purchased by the K-Days Association early on, most likely opening year and are still in play every summer.
I have sold some on eBay, properly attributed and have sold the $5 chip for as high as $175 when two bidders got crazy. The indivudal who purchased that $5 chip also bought some of the $1 chips and is (last time I checked) selling the $1's for more than $200 on his site, attributed as the R-9 chip from Vegas. For the record, he is a member of the club. He also knew what he was buying and the correct history.
There were also a couple of other sales at the same time with similar attributions and mis-representations of lineage.
For those interested in any of the Edmonton Silver Slipper chips, please check out the Canadian Chip Guide online to see the various versions in use and drop me an email. I will be playing there this summer and harvesting chips for those that need them. When I sold the SS chips on the board last year, I had the $1's for $4 and the $5's for $8. There is added cost to go play at the fair, with parking fees and gate entry fees, so I am not making very much.
If anyone wants additional information on the sale of these chips last summer or the web site selling them currently, please contact me via email.
I hope this helps.
PS... For the record, Canada is foreign to the USA, but I still hate the gouging some eBay sellers do when they ship here! SMILE!!!!
