Ronny... Some of the flak raised here is because down the road, whether it be your heirs, or you just getting tired of the design and wanting to move on, those altered chips will likely make their way into the collectibles market.
Many of us (collectors) know that "down the road" some of those altered chips will end up being offered as something they are not. We see it today with the River City chips (like the one shown by Don Lueders).
Generally speaking, we take a dim view of removing cancellation marks, and respectfully request that you not do so. However, you are certainly free to do as you please and in the event that you do remove the cancellation marks, we kindly request that you provide us some information that we can then keep on file for posterity.
The information of interest would be, how many (of each denomination) were treated. Additionally, some representative scans or photos (close-up) would also help.
