How about a few quotes directly from his auctions:
" Las Vegas, however, lives on. Chips from the Landmark are among the scarcest, most expensive, and most difficult to find. This one, though, WITH HOWARD HUGHES' ACTUAL PHOTO ON IT, is dirt cheap."
Here's one Bob mentioned in one of his posts:
"I've paid over $25 for a chip from the old Sands, and more than $50 for a vintage Moulin Rouge chip"
Do these statments imply this is a real "casino Chip" Do these statments imply these chips are MUCh more valueable then the dirt cheap stasrting price (WITH NO RESERVE)??
This guy has painted an elaborate portrait of real casino chips with real value...and the opportunity for buys to snatch them up at dirt cheap prices. For Gods sake, his shipping costs more the the value of the chips. In my humble opinion, he is misleading the buyers as much as if he claimed these are vintage rare and scarce.
As for "clearly showing the Gamblers General Store....I don;t know what kind of monitor you're using, but mine shows blurry writing on the scan. I know what to look for so I can read it. But if you didnt know what it says to begin with, you'd be out of luck.
I really feel you're being way to soft on this issue. Even one person being taken on these auction is one too many. It's each and every one of us collectors that have to seriously try our best to try to keep our hobby moving in a positive direction. Each time we see things that can ruin a potential future collector, we need to speak up.
Sure I've brought this up many times. And numberous others have brought this up on different auctions. I thought this one was particularly worthy of noting because of his quantities. I feel he is clearly here to stay, and is clearly misleading the buyers...many of which could be future chippers. Manjy of these may already be rookie, uninformed chippers. It really wasn't that awful long ago that I was a rookie uninformed chipper. It was after I found the chipboard, and the experienced chippers here that I learned. My guess is the same can be said for you.
Okay, enough ranting for the night.
