I included "morals" and "laws" together to make the point that our system of laws evolved from a common belief in "morals". Actually, I thought I was pretty clear in stating my deeply held belief that we are all free to do as we like and believe what we wish. I have no desire to force my personal beliefs on anyone. The problems start when we try to fit the system as a whole to the beliefs of small, disparate groups. I think that is what is trying to be done today, and our AMERICAN tradition has always held EXACTLY the opposite. These small disparate groups try to fit into the whole, and not the other way around. The "can't we all get along" crowd misses this important point.
