How tight is tight?

Air-tites are made up of two halves held together by friction. There is no resilient gasket. If temperature changes are great enough to cause significant pressure difference between inside and the atmosphere, then air will move and will carry moisture with it. My guess is it will take a pretty large pressure difference so that for practical environments, moisture will not get in. Of course any moisture trapped inside will stay there as well.

Consider your wrist watch case. Most are sealed by friction... occasionally by a screw on back. If your watch is guaranteed waterproof to a certain depth, there will be rubber or plastic gaskets to maintain the seal. Most watches in normal environments do just fine without the gaskets, as will chips in air-tites.
