I see your point. Trust should be mutual (especially among members (at least in theory). And in this case, there didn't seem to be anything malicious on the part of the other party.
When I commit to a deal, I try to send a check right away (or the chips). I do it because I want to establ;ish that type of reputation, and more importantly, if I wait, I forget. Granted, I don't do deals in the 'K's", but smaller 'friendly deals'.
But I wouldn't get too upset if a person doesn't jump in the car and race top the post office immediately. But it would be nice if a person has a policy of waiting to send out until paid, then they should say so. The buyer then can take that into consideration when deciding to accept the offer.
As for poor David sending 5k in chips and not being paid, that is bull, and we should horsewhip the scoundrel.
