Bill, one of my best friend's wife is a manager with Social Security who goes around the country giving seminars to SS offices about the drug program. Her "unofficial" stance is that if you are otherwise covered for prescription drugs don't go to any SS drug plan.
As in my case my wife still has excellent PPR with Blue Cross (thanks to 36 years at the good 'ole USPO) and does so until November 2009 so we're hoping Congress will get it right by then. Our annual co-pay costs for my prescription expense, because of my various medical problems, is still about $3,500.
