JIm, if a person takes drugs while pregnant, than a third person is involved; if he commits a crime, there is a victim, drive under the influence, potential victims.

If a person harms another, whether under the influence or not, they should pay the price.

But as for having no desire to hold a 9-5 job, I don't want to hold a 9-5 (or any other job). Haven't won the lottery yet.

If a person just takes drugs, and dies; why should that be criminal? And if it should be, why do we not in fairness extend that rational to all other similarly situated individuals?
