As I recall Grady was the one that let Pedro melt down in the final game of the ALCS in 2003 against the Yankees late in the game when he had nothing left in his tank. I don't remember the details other than the Red Sox had to blame someone so, they immediately fired him. He got a lot of credit as a Coach in Cleveland before that.
