I live in Palm Desert about 30 miles SE of Palm Springs. I drive in to the UCLA Med Center every three months and I go I-10 just about all the way. For her to go to Glendale she'd go I-10 to I-210 and that's almost as bad. Unless, as Fred says, she leaves in the early, early morning and comes back in the late evening, she'll not make it in under two to three hours if lucky. And, coming back is just as bad...two to three hours. So if she likes sitting in her car for five+/- hours a day tell her anywhere on the desert is not a good choice - but it's beautiful here.

I've arranged my UCLA visits to be on the 3rd Wednesday of the month so the wife and I go down mid-day Tuesday (the traffic is still horrible but not as bad as during regular commute times), get a hotel near LAX and go to the SoCal Chip Club meeting Tuesday nite.
