I didn't have to google, but grin

I was in a hurry to answer the trivia and I missed the other parts of your question...no $5 Sands for me huh?

The original target was Kokura but I believe it was overcast. The bomb was set to detonate at 1,950 ft "AGL" so they would get maximum benefit rather than have it go off on the surface.

The navigator's job was to compute a flight leaving from Tinian and being over target at 11:00am, so he had to estimate a takeoff time, time in route, windage, et. al. on an old E-6B calculator (I've got my Uncle's one from his "Hump" days) - not with computers as they have now. Quite impressive if you're impressed with that stuff - I am.

When I used to fly I considered myself lucky if I got somewhere within a few hours of my run. vbg
