Could be a laser, which I use engraving my displays which makes a sharp defined line. See scan below. Or a pantograph engraving machine, which would give you a softer and rounded line depending on the bit that was used. Either one would give you a perfect chip time after time. Unlike a real antique chip, no two were ever the same even if they were supposed to look the same JMHO.
