I have gone to places and they have acted like I wanted to shave their cat, other places have gone way out of their way. The Palms falls into this category.
ON my last trip, I ran into a fellow collector (who may wish to remain nameless) who sells chips at the Luxor. When we finished arguing college football (I am right he was wrong), or actually when my Dad decided he had heard enough and wanted to sit down, we went up to the cashier. The plan was to get the "max" we could get, and my dad would do the same, on behalf of the other collector. The max was below what he needed, but anything would help. As it turned out they went in back and got him what he needed.
During the convention, I went in and p/u chips from the MGM poker room. Was told that they weren't giving those chips out (period) by someone who would know (guess). I went back and they sold me a bunch, no problem.
I think it is a matter of a cashier willing to be helpful. I have found a small tip and a thank and a please go a long way.
Thats my input.
