THis thread seems to have devided into two issues.
1. Slot Cards w/ names
2. Personal chips
Someone mentioned that the cards usually say that they are the property of the casino. By extension it is for the benefit of the customer named. For that reason I think both the casino, and the named person could lay claim to the card. The casinos claim overriding the customer's.
I don't sell or trade slot cards w/ my name on them, I don't want others to have access to my cards (I have lost them, but believe that they are still mine and should be returned. Theoretically a person could use the card to benefit off my play.
As for Personal chips, the ones I have received have been given to me by friends. I don't have a personal yet (in the works), so they have been gifts (which I intend to reciprocate). I would never sell one. If I got one in trade, or by buying it (unlikely), thenb I would have no objection to using it like any other chip.
But once it is put into the marketplace, the creator has no legal claim on the chip. They may however justifiably feel offended if the item they gave in friendship is being traded for value elsewhere.
That is my humble opinion.
