Gee, it sure sounds a little bit of like guilt creeping in there to me.
"These facts" that it shouldn't be your responsibility to make collectors aware of are facts that you're directly responsible for. Were it not for your actions, there would be nothing to inform collectors about. I think down deep that bothers you a little. Maybe not enough to put any "thought and reluctance" into doing more "repair" work or "custom chip creation" in the future. Maybe just enough guilt to keep making these posts that seem to try to justify your actions.
So, maybe we should all just "adjust our collecting strategies accordingly", eh? Perhaps carry a portable X-ray machine with us to the chip show? Ask an eBay seller to please post an X-ray of a chip offered for sale? What sort of "adjustment" did you have in mind?
