My wife does a lot of work with "distressed" properties (real estate talk for a house in horrible shape).
I’m amazed how people live from all the stories I hear from my wife and her co-workers.
My wife gives some of the houses a "name" so I know which property she talking about. Here are a few names for some of the properties:
The Dead Dog House – Remains of a dead dog were found in an upstairs bedroom (just fur and bones).
The Roach House – I went into this house myself, 1000’s of little tiny roaches were everywhere in the house.
The Snake House – The former owners of this house flooded the heating vents with water (no one know why) so water snakes moved into the house. The house also had been a scene of a homicide making it a seller’s nightmare.
The banks she works for pays “clean out crews” to remove the garbage from theses houses. Some of these houses cost $3000 - $5000 to clean them out!
