Thanks for the info Andy. I hope the main reason for closing was because Bob Gode wanted to retire. He started what became a small chain of billiards lounges with a place called Wile E's here in the late 70's or early 80's. The theme of the place was based on Warner Brothers cartoon characters (Wiley Coyote, Bugs, Daffy, etc). That was quite a busy place, and it was before he discovered pink pool table felt. In fact, Wile E's served to be a model in several ways when I was looking for ideas to open Sharkey's Que & Brew in '85.

...hard to believe its been 20 years since I owned a bar, and while there were aspects of that experience that were both rewarding and educational, I don't think I'd ever want to have another liquor license. Too much liability when you consider you have to deal with every drunk who might wander into your place, have one drink, then get behind the wheel and kill somebody. While its illegal to serve someone who is visibly intoxicated, too often you can't tell when they first walk in the door.
