Boy, are you ever showing your age Bill! Did you know that Stevie Winwood was the lead singer for the Spencer Davis group? He was only 18 when they recorded "Gimme some lovin'".
Hard to fathom that the Beatles recorded 27 (I think) albums in about 7 years. When asked which album was the turning point in their style of music, most people say Sgt. Pepper's. It was actually Rubber Soul where they ventured into musical territory that had been previously been unexplored. They were the best band ever, 35 years ago, and still are. While here have been some incredibly creative and innovative people involved in the music business since the Beatles, I don't see anyone coming even close to them.
However, they didn't compose my all-time favorite song. That honor belongs to George Gershwin. Rhapsody in Blue, I could listen to it all day every day and never get tired of it.
My favorite CD's, in no particular order....
Yes, Fragile
Yes, Close to the Edge
The Boomers (a Canadian band that nobody ever heard of), XYZ
Emerson, Lake and Palmer, 1st album
Ozark Mountain Daredevils, 1st album
Mike Oldfield, Tubular Bells
Hope to see you in March!
Bob
