I live in Central NY (between Syracuse and Utica). Right in the middle of the State of NY (300 miles each way you look at it for either a road trip for Chips or Lottery Tickets), this doesn't count Turning Stone. I keep hearing how people from Downstate keep saying about the people in Upstate. Welllll I don't live Upstate (maybe in a sense of me living above them Downstate I do). Now you take people who live in the Western part of the State. Do people Downstate refer them to Upstate people too (I refer them as to the Western part of the State). How do the Downstate people refer to the people who live in the Northern part of the State, are they the Upper Upstate people.
Here's another thing to think about. Is Upstate and Downstate one word or two words?
Have a Nice Day (its raining here)
