The best way?
Depends on whether you collect full books or covers only.
The safest way is to remove the matches, and collect only the covers. If you do that, there are pages with 6 pockets that work great in binders.
If you leave the matches in the books, the safest way to store them is in metal tins. That's what I do with our duplicates...just toss them into covered tins with no organization at all.
For our actual collection...covers without matches go in binders with postcards, funbooks, brochures, gaming guides, etc....and chips! The binders are divided by location, then alphabetical. For example: Las Vegas-downtown (5-6 binders, alphabetical by casino), Las Vegas-Strip (5-6 binders, alphabetical by casino), Las Vegas-other (ditto), Reno, Tahoe, Laughlin, Other Nevada
Books that still have matches go into 3"x5" ziplock bags...the matchbooks are open so that we can see the inside and the outside without putting wear and tear on the hinge. There may be more than one book, from the same casino, in the bag (in alternating directions to distribute the bulk evenly). The casino name is written on a small label, which is affixed to the bag. The bags are filed, alphabetically, in small plastic 3-drawer chests. Two rows fit in each drawer.
We have some nice feature matches, too. A lot of those are in a ?12x15? display tray with a glass lid and the white fiberfill inside (open, so you can see the matches)
