I'm so impressed by the long thread of guesses (or the lack thereof) that I'll give y'all another hint.

1. Number One is a club member.
2. Number One is no friend of Capt Banjo's.
3. Number One would probably be offended if called a "merchant banker." (and is probably one of the few who would understand what that means )
