There was a really cool website I stumbled onto a while back that was owned by a guy who lived off the grid up near Monarch Pass in Colorado. I googled for it tonight but didn't find it though.

However I did find another cool website along the same lines: http://www.jdhodges.com/log/1620

Also, go to www.google.com and do a search for "living off the grid" (with the double quotes), it will return all kinds of information.
