"All of my research at the UNLV library shows that back in the 60's when the Federal Government choose not make any more one dollar coins, it left the casinos out in the cold."
Facts are that the Federal Government made Eisenhower Dollars in the early to late 70's and the smaller size Susan B. Anthony Dollars in the early 1980's that were used in slot machines in Atlantic City at Resorts International in the case of the Ike Dollar; and at Boardwalk Regency in the case of the SBA Dollar.
Both properties then had their own private tokens made of the same size as the two new government dollar coins so that either dollar tokens or dollar coins could be played in their respective machines that were tooled for that specific size dollar before the standardization of all slot token size later on throughout the city.
