"What I need, what I'm asking for, is someone with good color sense, to look at some scans and tell me the proper colors to list in my textual descriptions of the chips." ... Ken Nestle
Ken, for whatever it's worth ... I've found that you can not rely 100% on scans of chips sent to you from other people. Many of these scans will give you a good idea of the chip design and grahics, but some colors just do not reproduce well in scans ... and some images from some scanners are virtually worthless as far as color registration goes. A cataloguer ideally needs the actual chip in front of him/her to describe colors in a lot of cases, especially if you are working on a reference project that may become the standard for your particular specialty. Others will be depending upon your reference to identify their chips.
If you are sending scans to others to confirm your descriptions ... alot depends on the settings and quality of the monitor on their end on how they perceive certain colors to be.
