I agree. With the amount of trouble happening on eBay, there is plenty of room for stuff to be done to protect buyers from unscrupulous sellers. Fortunately, I have never been seriously burned on eBay. Maybe over paid for a few things. Maybe waited an excessive amount of time for merchandise. However always got what I bid on. Worse case was a box of about a dozen warped boomerangs. :LOL:
Somehow something may need to be done. But, with the structural differences between eBay and a LIVE auction house like Sotherby's... what that would look like in the end? Your guess is probably better than mine. In any case, I don't think it would rise to the same level as a live auction where they have control of the listing, appraisal, authentication... and possession of the merchandise.
