I visited the Western 1 time in December 2002 on a chip acquisition mission. I did not stay in the hotel but I did play in the casino for about a half hour. It is located on the southwest corner of Fremont and 9th street, about 3 blocks past the El Cortez and on the other side of the street. I don't know if things have improved since then, but at that time it was a dive. Very dirty & smoky, with a clientele to match. If you're leaving on foot, get back under the canopy before it gets dark. This is my opinion only, I'd love to hear others'. Thank you.
