Many of you know I used to have a Sleep Disorders Center in New orleans right in the middle of the Garden District. It used to be located in the Medical Arts building next to Tuoro Hospital. Key words: used to be.
Good News: I have full insurance coverage for Hurricane damage. I was smart enough to go for the better coverage which covered loss of business, employee wages, lease, expenses, etc.
Bad news: The insurance company says I get nothing because the damage was due to the flood and not the hurricane.
Good news: It should only take about $20,000-$25,000 to redo all of the carpeting, drywall, wall insulation, ceiling tiles, sanitizing, etc.
Bad news: There doesn't seem to be anybody there in the town that would consider having outpatient diagnositics for Sleep related disorders a pressing thing for a long time.
Now....for a more down to basics reality:
Good news: all of my employees were able to successfully evacuate the area and are all fine. I've kept them all on full time paid salary. I've reloacted a couple of them to some of my other Sleep Disorders Centers in other areas of the country.
Bad news: a couple of them had their houses flooded out and underwater and have lost almost everything.
