I don't begrudge him a cent. eBay has done more to open up the world of collectibles to people than anything else. There is No comparison. In fact, I would not be collecting chips if it wasn't for eBay. Not too many casinos 'round here. I sell. The fees are reasonable, and if you have something truly special, you can't ask for a more profitable venue to sell it. I tried to sell a special vintage bamboo fly rod via consignment with the top New York tackle dealer. You want to talk fees? It sat for months. I put it up on eBay and got more than I could have wished for.
Bidders from Japan literally begged me to ship overseas. Where else can you get that kind of access?
Sorry for the mini-rant, but I remember the trading life before eBay, and it wasn't that great. Like every big organization, they have their screw-ups, but I like to look at the big picture.
