So was I. In the second paragraph it says Sept. 3. Then the caption under the image of the front page of the first edition says, "FIRST EDITION: (from left) The cover of the first Hollywood Reporter as it appeared on Sept. 30, 1930, and the introduction to publisher W.R. Wilkerson's inaugural Tradeviews column." Then if you follow the embedded link you arrive at the close-up of the front page which clearly shows the the correct date is Sept 3. However I usually read an article before I follow the links. Hence, the confusion.
