I gotta dispute the rental car/monorail idea. I just got back and my rental car was about $20 per day including taxes. Just the monorail is $10 per day and it only does the strip. If you want to go anywhere off the strip then you end up paying for a cab or waiting forever if a shuttle bus is available. Then there is the fee to get from the airport to your hotel and back. Yeah the car will cost a few dollars more but it is worth it.
