Pidge was Pidge Georgian, who later ran a card room called Georgian's in downtown Sacramento through the '80s. Sacramento was a great boxing town back then, and Georgian's was where the fight crowd hung out. I remember one particular bookie seated at a prominent table who often had three phones lined up in front of him, something straight out of the movies.
