I'm sure all chips were available with a knurled edge. However, not many would pay the couple of extra dollars.

Note that 12 of the 19 chips in the scan have denominations. I would say that well less than 1 in 20 of my crest & seals have denominations. Only the chips that clubs could not affors to have duplicated had knurled edges (in many cases, that is).
